Last week we attended the Glasgow Disability Alliance  Triennial General Meeting and Learning Festival. It was great to speak to everyone at the event and let them know about what we do. GDA have been long time friends and supporters of Improving Lives and it was great to be back at another of their fabulous events at the Doubletree Hotel.

We are absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of the team of volunteers from Balfour Beatty who gave up 2 days to help us redecorate our premises!! Of course our own wonderful staff and volunteers got stuck right in too and the place is looking great! What a team we made together  We are so grateful for everyone’s hard work! Balfour Beatty

A huge congratulations to the members of our karate class who passed their grading yesterday! Well done   Huge thanks as always to Graham of Kugatsu Disability Karate  for running this amazing class for us every week.

The members of our Autism Group have been working together over the past couple of months to redesign the poster for the group! We think the new design looks amazing and really embraces the views and input of all of the group. Here’s a couple of those members with the new improved poster. What do you think?

Our Sight Loss Group enjoyed a lovely Xmas lunch yesterday. We enjoyed our annual trip to 71 @ The Quay at the Clydebank Campus of Our Sight Loss Group is back on 29th January in the Concord Centre in Dumbarton and are looking forward to making lots of exciting plans for 2026.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Halloween Fundraiser last night!! We really appreciate your support and we managed to raise an amazing £947! This will go towards the work we do in West Dunbartonshire and is greatly appreciated. Everyone made such an effort with their costumes and really got in to the spirit  of the night. Last week we were honoured to be invited along to attend the ‘Our Voices, Our Stories’ event at Clydebank Town Hall in Clydebank as part of Challenge Poverty Week. This event was created and hosted by West Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau in partnership with St Peter the Apostle High School pupils who led thoughtful workshops tackling poverty and stigma. At the weekend we attended Oktoberfest in Clydebank. This event was organised by Councillor Sophie Traynor in partnership with the Parkhall, North Kilbowie & Central Community Council and YSort It with the aim of creating an afternoon of free activities for local children and families to enjoy. Yesterday we spent the morning at the Working4U Job Fair at Clydebank Town Hall where we got to chat to lots of people about the role of a Personal Assistant and the vacancies we have live at the moment. We were joined on our stall by the lovely Margaret from the HSCP SDS department too so we could offer insight in to both sides of the SDS process to the personal assistants of the future!
